Week 4

"If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how
amazing you can be."
-Maya Angelou

Hola!
This week was awesome and we took so many pictures! The Lord really
watches over us and takes care of us out here.

On P day we went bowling with our district and it was so much fun! I
did really bad but it was still fun. Also, we took our leftover
gizzards for the Elders haha and needless to say, they did not love
them. :D
Here's some pics!

Our good friend Katie Boone got baptized this week! She is the Elder's investigator but I kind of took her on as my own. She says I'm her favorite missionary so boo yah!
We knocked on a road called Memory Lane this week and got a great pic.
On this very road, I had an accident.

Sister Gibb and I were knocking on doors and this adorable lady with 3 kids opened the door! She was awesome and totally willing to talk about God! Turns out, she was a preachers wife so we left her with a card and as we left, I turned and left really quickly without looking. Her house was built so a huge chunk of it just STUCK OUT AT HEAD LEVEL and so I chunked my head on it SO HARD. Sister Gibb said it sounded like a coconut hitting a rock! I momentarily was blinded by the impact. It was really funny, and I'm totally fine but it was kind of embarrassing since the lady was just like, " Um, are you okay?" Hahaha :)
This week was awesome, and full of adventure. I'm a little crazy but I love it that way.

We were given a gift certificate by a member to go to this amazing southern restaurant called "What's Cookin'". It was DELICIOUS. I'm going to die we eat so much food here. Especially at people's houses since they just feed and feed and feed us.

My district is a bunch of Wackadoodles. But I love them!
We also had a district meeting this week, and the AP's came which was neat! We took pictures with them too:
We have good times and learn a lot from our district!

Also, our good friends the Tanners had us over for dinner, so I got to see Waffles again!!!
I love him so much.
Then Sister Gibb and I were able to go tract in an area we had never been to before, where we suddenly walked down a street and at the end there was a gorgeous view of the river and downtown Jax! It was gorgeous so we just had to take photos.

Week 3 in Florida

Hey everyone!
So apparently nobody got my emails last week- sorry about that, I'll do better.

This was a week of Miracles!
I can't believe how happy I am. I'm no longer sick and so everything
feels better about the world! Sister Gibb and I are really starting to
get in the swing of things and we just found out we are leading the
zone in reaching our goals! Ahhh!!!!

This week was fun with regards to eating awesome food and being with
great people!
Zone conference was on Wednesday and I sang "I Stand All Amazed" as
the musical number which was fun. It's a blessing because everyone
kind of knows who I am now :)

We got Gumbo from our ward clerk Brother Carroll and it was the most
delicious thing I have ever eaten haha
Here is a photo of said Gumbo:

It contains shrimp and okra and everything delicious

We also on P day went and got something called Gizzard at this strange Greek restaurant that looks straight outta the 90's and was slightly terrifying. Gizzard is the part of a chicken in their stomach that holds rocks and crunches up their food. Yeah it's weird.

Needless to say it was interesting haha

We also went to a members house to get some stuff printed and we met their dog Waffles! This dog is the best thing I have ever seen (besides Kiara)
Can you see the joy in my face?
He is an angel among men.

We invited 2 people to baptism this week and both said yes! It was incredible and we are so excited to finish teaching them.
We have a lot of success here but I know it isn't us, it's the Lord watching out for us. We love this so much. I have never been so happy and I know the Lord is taking care of me.
I love y'all!
Have a blessed week!
Much love,
Sister Caton

Week 2 in Florida

Hello everyone!
This week was amazing! I had so many amazing experiences and crazy
things happen to me :)
I am so in love with the people here! In the south, people LOVE Jesus,
but they love him so much that they think they don't need any more of
him. Lots of people are so kind to us and we've only had one person be
really rude to us. Most people tell us that they love what we're doing
and respect us and say "Y'all be careful out there!"

It has been kind of cold these last few days but we have been fine,
and I never get cold. I was kind of sick this week, but I'm over it
except for a tiny cough. Sister Gibb is so supportive of me and is so
awesome.

This week I have made huge leaps and bounds in my dislike of cats.
EVERYONE here has a cat, or two or three. Our recent convert Tara has
4 and we were giving her a new member lesson when suddenly one of her
cats jumped up on my head and started chewing on my hair! It was
insane! And everyone in the room didn't even help me, they just
started taking pictures! Here is Sister Gibbs picture of the event:

So that happened. But later that week we went to a members home for dinner and their cat was super cool and friendly like a dog. It was very nice and so I played with it a little. Sister Gibb also captured that moment:

Speaking of members, I love the members here. They are amazing and kind and we have dinner appointments almost every night! It is so great.

There is this cute little member named Sister Morrow who we go and visit each week because she has a lot of questions, and she is basically Mama Odie from Princess and the Frog! This week she talked to us a little about her past and this was how the conversation went:
Sister Morrow: "I used to practice Santeria. Do you know what that is?"
Sister Gibb: "nope"
Me (without thinking): "Yes!"
Sister Morrow: "Tell her what it is."
Now I'm panicking because my understanding of Santeria is that it's basically voodoo, and I don't want to offend her and so I start mumbling "Oh well I just, I don't want to be wrong, I just"
And Sister Morrow is hard of hearing and she says "WHAT?"
Then I said something else mumbling and she pretty much yells:
"I didn't Ax you to be involved, I axed you to tell her what it is!"

It was absolutely hilarious.

Well that's pretty much my week! Here's a pic of the missionaries in my ward this last Sunday

I love Y'all!
Sincerely,
Sister Caton

Week one…Let the fun begin!

Hello!
This week has been crazy awesome and I am so excited to tell you all about it!
So the MTC was amazing and I really loved my district, but only the sisters from my district are here in Jacksonville. the other elders are in Atlanta Georgia and South Carolina. I miss them, but I know they will be safe doing the Lord's work.

So I have had a great time here in Jacksonville! On Wednesday, I got put with my trainer! Her name is Sister Gibb and she is the best! I love her already! I keep embarrassing myself in front of her though. Within 15 minutes of meeting her, we had lunch and there was a fruit plate next to a container of something. Sister Gibb put some on her plate and said, "Oh wait, I don't think this is fruit dip." and I said, "I think it is!" and I grabbed an apple, dipped it in and shoved it in my mouth. It was Mayonnaise. So.... She thinks I'm crazy I'm certain haha

We have been tracting, teaching lessons and doing the Lord's work and it has been so much fun. She teaches me so much!

On Thursday we got to go to a teacher-supply warehouse and volunteer. We got to make die cuts and help people. there is this amazing old Lady there named Caroline who just cracks me up! She wants to call the mission office and tell them that the missionaries represent them well. I just adore her.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday it rained pretty much all day and it was very cold! I could not believe it, considering I was all ready for hot weather, but it has been fine. I got a little sick, but I'm already feeling better.

On Saturday, our investigator Calais was baptized! She is 14 and she is amazing. I am so happy for her! We will start teaching her the new member lessons this week and I am so excited.

We are teaching a cute little boy named Zayden and I was able to invite him to baptism on Friday night! He is 8 and loves primary. He will be baptized on the 27th! It is so exciting.

I love being a missionary! Every day when I lay down in my bed at night, I say, "This was the Best Day of My Life!" and the craziest part is that I actually mean it!

I love y'all so much!
Love,
Sister Caton

Welcome to Florida!

I made it safely to Jacksonville! I don't actually get to write much until next P day, but just know I am safe, well and SOOOO happy to be here!!! I have had an amazing time at the MTC, where I learned so much about my savior and what kind of missionary I want to be. Hopefully I can begin to pull it off. I love you all so much, and I will write to you again next week!
All the love from my heart,
Sister Caton
