January 26, 2016 - 1st Week in the MTC

"Life is a fairy tale. Live it with wonder and amazement."
-Welwyn Wilton Katz

Wow, it was so great to hear from all of you! Emails really are great to get on the mission. I had a great week full of exciting moments!

So the first day I got to the MTC, Stephanie dropped me off and it was a whirlwind of activities from that moment on. I got my nametag, books and everything all at once, then they took me to my dorm room. I was the first one from my group to get to the room. Then I went to the classroom and met my district. There are 9 of us because one Elder never showed up. We all wish he was here because we have had the most fun together ever! I think we must have known eachother in the pre-existence.

My companion is AMAZING! Her name is Sister Smith and we get along great! She is from Spanish Fork, Utah and she is tall and pretty with red hair. We have tons of personal jokes and everything haha I love her so much! When we teach together the spirit is so strong. I think we were meant to be companions. We sing a lot of Saturday's Warrior together because we both know every song by heart haha :)

We didn't take very many pictures since we have been busy learning so much. But I am really happy here. I'll send pictures next week :)
I love the MTC! The food is awesome and I love the people I get to work with.

We have two other sisters in our district who are also going to Jacksonville named Sister Hannah and Sister Olson. Sister Hannah knows Courtney!

Sister Smith and I were just called as the Sister Training Leaders for our zone. We felt a little overwhelmed at first but now we are doing great.

Everyone kept telling us we just needed to make it to Sunday but I never felt like it was hard to do that. Yesterday our district decided we would all fast for 24 hours and then eat after we went to the temple this morning. It ended up being amazing and I felt so spiritual and awesome.

We have one investigator who we are teaching who comes to the MTC to be taught. We had our first lesson yesterday with her and it went so well!!!!!! Sister Smith and I cried afterwards because we were so excited and filled with the spirit. We hope she felt the same way.

Well, I fly out to Jacksonville on February 2nd!!!!
Wish me luck!
With Love,
Sister Caton

The Adventure Begins

"One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an Adventure." -William Feather

Hello! My name is Kelsey and in 4 days, I will be embarking on the biggest adventure I have ever undertaken. I will be serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Florida Jacksonville Mission for a period of 18 months.

I am pretty excited! Sorry if you didn't know that I was leaving on a mission, I just really didn't want this to be about me, I wanted it to be about God.

I will be keeping up this blog so that if any of my friends or family wants to know how I'm doing they can just pop over and check this out!

Just as a quick explanation: The title of my blog is a shoutout to my favorite band, Coldplay. Their new album "A Head Full of Dreams" has a lovely new single called "Adventure of a Lifetime." and I have always loved adventure. I like to think of this as an 18-month adventure where I get to find out who I really am, and who I want to become. I think this will be uplifting as well as just generally fantastic.

Well, I hope my mother will be able to figure out how to use this blog, so if that doesn't work out, this may be the only post. But we'll see, she's pretty amazing.

See you in 18!
Sincerely,
Kelsey
(soon to be known as Sister Caton)
