Week 56

This was such a great week! Transfers happened and our zone stayed mostly the same for our sisters. We were expecting one sister transferred in, and we called to welcome her and it turned out a different one came instead! There was a change after the transfer call and nobody told us haha but it was fine! She is awesome so we are excited. 

This week we had a dinner appointment every night and we had a grand time with our members! One was the cutest old couple in the world called the Chandlers. They have a farm and we got to go help feed the cows and donkey while dinner was finishing up! 

Also this week we found an awesome new investigator who is a stay at home mom and she homeschools her kids so she knows a lot of members. We were able to testify to her that if she read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it that she would know it was true. She has decided to try it out and see! 

It is amazing to meet people and teach them about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love being a missionary!

Week 55

Wow this week was awesome!

First of all, Sister Tullis and I are staying together for another

transfer! I am excited because we love each other a lot. We are going

to have so much fun!

Also, I'm going to be a grandma! My trainee, Sister Harris, is

training a new missionary straight out of the MTC this transfer! I

love her and I'm so proud of the great missionary she has become.

This week was fun, we went to the fort in St Augustine last p day and

we had such a great time! A super awesome member family that Sister

Tullis knew in Palatka came up and took us and the St Augustine

sisters.

Also, we had some really great experiences teaching and finding this week, we went to MLC and learned a lot and got to go out and apply it! We have a great new investigator who is super committed, and he really wants to read the Book of Mormon and pray to know if it is true! He was our miracle this week! We have another appointment with him tonight and we are excited to find out if he read it!

This Sunday, our Stake patriarch came and spoke to us and he said some amazing things. He told this great story about a farmer on the east coast who really needed a hired hand. He went to try to hire someone, and met this small man and he asked him what he could do. The man said, "I can do anything, and I can sleep when the wind blows."

The farmer was confused by that but hired him. The little man worked hard and earned his keep. But one night, there was a storm coming and the wind was howling. The farmer jumped out of bed and grabbed his lantern and ran out to the barn. He shook the hired hand awake and shouted, "Hurry! We need to get the farm ready!" And the hired hand rolled over in his bed and said, "I told you. I can sleep when the wind blows."

The farmer just about fired him on the spot, but decided to run out and fix the farm up himself. To his surprise, he found the hay covered in tarpaulins, the stock all safe in the barn, and everything securely tied down. The farmer then realized what the man meant when he said he could sleep when the wind blows. When we are prepared, we don't have to worry about the storms of life. I want to be able to sleep when the wind blows!

This week was really good y'all!

Sadly, Sister Tullis and I both got sick this week. But we are on the tail end of it all now and things are feeling better. Just had a cold like everyone in the mission haha

But we went on a great tradeoff this week with Sister Kirkham and Sister Gilbert from Palatka!

I was with Sister Kirkham in our area, and we had some huge miracles!

We had set an appointment with this man who was a referral from the St Augustine Elders and he was so awesome, he told us that he has basically just been searching for the truth his whole life. He is also willing to keep commitments and he has a sincere desire to know. It was a wonderful lesson. He told us he believes that to really repent, we need to work at it and prove to God that we love him and that we want to change. Hey, that's what we believe too! It was great.

Sister Kirkham is so awesome and I love her. Such a sweetheart!

I love being companions with Sister Tullis. She is so much fun and we are so weird. When Sister Tullis went on a tradeoff, the sister she was with said, "I love my companion, she makes me feel like a little kid again, we have so much fun!" And Sister Tullis said, "Sister Caton just makes me weirder." Hahahaha true. We have fun together.

This week we worked hard and met a lot of people and set lots of appointments. I love this area! The ward is so great and everyone wants to help us do the work. We are lucky missionaries!

This week we find out what happens with transfers. I can't believe it's gone by so quickly! I can't wait for this next one, we are going to have so much fun.

I am so grateful to be a missionary. Also, it's been 70+ degrees all week. February? Not in Florida!

Hey y'all!

This week was pretty crazy, we had some interesting stuff go on.

I went on a tradeoff this week with Sister Kilpack! She is awesome. We had a really good time but we were both pretty scared when it came to nighttime, the house we live in just felt really disturbed and dark. It freaked us out so we prayed and sang some hymns until we fell asleep. The next morning the Elders came and blessed our house and the difference is incredible. The priesthood is so real!

Then we went to kind of a really far out area in our boundaries, and the people were really nice and told us they see Gators out there all the time!

We were right by the river, we got a lot of nice pics.

The St Johns River is so pretty.

We have been teaching this great investigator who has a lot of potential, she is awesome and loves to ask questions. Her house is so pretty!

There is a lot of aftermath from Hurricane Matthew that we see, and we saw this super cool tree so I took a picture

Also all of you know how I am afraid of cats, and this week we were parked by a member's house for a few minutes to talk on the phone with the mission office. Suddenly, A CAT LEAPS ONTO THE CAR AND STARES INTO MY SOUL

it was so so scary. I even screamed

Cats are gross.

Hey yall!

This was a good week. We have been working hard here in St Johns River

and I am feeling pretty happy! The members here are amazing. We have

dinner every night and we have been super busy with going through our

area book and contacting all of the investigators we haven't met yet

haha.

This week we had my first Zone Meeting and it was a little stressful

since it was kind of intense. We had to figure out catering for all

the missionaries for lunch and also setting up the equipment for the

missionary broadcast after the meeting and everything so it was a

little hectic, also we found out that the assistants to the president

have been sending out texts and stuff but always sent it to the

Bartram Trails phone which nobody has right now, so we were completely

out of the loop on what we were supposed to be doing. Luckily the Zone

Leaders let us know. They are really great and include us in

everything. We have been trying to use technology more and set up

skype lessons with people so we practiced by having a skype meeting

with the Zone Leaders. It was so weird! This technology thing is going

to take some adjustment... hahaha I feel like an old person.

But in Zone Meeting we trained on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how

we can apply that to our teaching and finding. It was really great to

focus on that this week and work on applying the basics. I love my

Savior Jesus Christ. He taught so simply and powerfully. He is the

perfect example!

But the worldwide missionary broadcast was so wonderful. We have some

major changes! But it is exciting to have changes that will further

the work.

I love Sister Tullis, we have way too much fun together! She is a

hoot! I am laughing 24/7 with her as my companion. We decided we are

probably going to be companions for a long time since we whitewashed

in together.
